The Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) is a public institution with a vocation to serve society. It offers a broad and higher education in a range of technical, artistic and humanistic fields. UPC has adopted a management model based on the transparency of objectives and results in the different units composing it. The aim is to foster the improvement of educational, research and management activities and greater transparency and accountability to society.
Fondazione Santa Lucia is a hospital (Rome, Italy) for the neuro-motor rehabilitation of patients. Medical research has been a fundamental part of the institutional activities, in addition to the clinical practice, since the foundation. On 7th August 1992, Santa Lucia Institute was recognized as "Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico" (Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalisation and Health Care) by the Italian Government. IRCCS Santa Lucia established itself within the national and international network of scientific institutes. In particular, research is carried out on neuro-lesions and their motor and cognitive consequences. From the end of 2004, a new site houses the pre-clinical research laboratories of Santa Lucia as well as the "European Brain Research Institute" (EBRI), President Professor Rita Levi Montalcini (Medicine Nobel Prize winner for discovery of Nerve Growth Factor).
The University of Málaga (UMA) is a public institution with a vocation to serve society. It offers a broad and higher education in a range of technical, artistic and humanistic fields. Presently the UMA has about 40.000 students and offers more than 50 diploma and degree courses and more than 40 doctorate programs. Moreover, the UMA every year imparts a wide variety of postgraduate courses in addition to the official ones. The UMA has an active and important role in the range of international exchange and cooperation programs, involving universities from all around the world, both in teaching and research, with special emphasis in universities from Europe and South America countries.

"Ana Aslan" International Foundation is a non-profit international organization, established in Romania, with international branches. The organization has developed “Ana Aslan” International Academy of Aging (AAIAA), a forum of a high scientific, communication and education instance, calling together personalities of outstanding value in the field of medical science and education, personalities acknowledged on national and/or international level. Another purpose of AAIAA is to organize and support projects and programmes for elders in the scientific, educational and communication medical fields. AAIAA promotes the co-operation between academies, universities, similar institutions and structures in other countries by maintaining direct relations with them, as well as with international organizations of elders. The areas of activity cover Clinical Aging Research, Epidemiological Aging Research, Geriatric Nursing and Caring, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Dementia, Cognitive Disorders and Memory Impairment, Social Science, Health economy, Drugs trials, Gerontoprophilaxy.
DFKI Lab Bremen is a new laboratory of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) with original sites in Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern. DFKI Lab Bremen is associated with the Informatics Department at Universität Bremen and is located on the Bremen University campus, acting as a knowledge transfer center between basic research at the university and applied research and development in cooperation with the industry. In its department of Safe Cognitive Systems one goal is the development of assistant systems for the elderly or persons with restricted abilities, e.g. intelligent wheelchairs, with particular emphasis on safety and adaptive, cognitively adequate interaction.
Azienda Sanitaria Locale RM B (Rome, Italy) is part of the National Health System. It encompasses an area of 213.6 Km2 with 690.229 inhabitants. Inside RM B, Centro Assistenza Domiciliare (CAD; Centre for Home Care) of III District supplies home care services for 200.000 inhabitants. On average, 500 patients are in charge of the service, with about 20.000 nursing procedures per year and about 4.000 hours of rehabilitation per year. Special services addressed to peculiar patients are: palliative treatment and pain therapy for oncology patients; treatment of haematology patients; geriatric assistance for a Community Centre; special service for “assisted discharges”. The medical staff is in charge of a centre for Alzheimer disease, which proposes a mixed, ambulatory-home, assistance.
